About Us

Traditionally, every village used to have its own blacksmith.  They shod horses, repaired agricultural implements, fabricated tools for the farm, house and church, and made everyday utensils.Recently, there has been a revival of interest in the blacksmith's art and TV programs such as Monty Don's Mastercrafts and Edwardian Farm have fuelled that interest.

John has been a blacksmith/fabricator for over 30 years, having been taught by his father Andy; the last man to shoe a working horse in Paisley, Scotland.  Farriery is now a seperate entity from blacksmithing, and John continues to fabricate and repair items in mild steel, just as they were done in the past.

John used to design & fabricate stairs, trailers and more particularly for the airline industry in Scotland, but also for small companies and individuals.  He has been an instructor in welding at Duchy College, Rosewarne, and has taught for both Cornwall Adult Education Service and the Rural Business School.  He is a member of BABA (the British Artist Blacksmith Association) and now offers private tuition at the workshop in Wadebridge.
